RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Kendas,
Well I sit here watching it snow 4 inches again (had 4-5 yesterday). So I am wishing I was in Tucson helping you install your new toy. Spring is coming though.... and I can't wait.

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Like some of you I am waiting for spring. I have things I want to do on my old bus but the weather is not co-operating, not to mention that I feel like hibernating this time of year. Here's to spring, may she come early....

RE: Fixing water damage on the old Dodge (pics)

Spec,
My 74 Brougham has factory sheet metal wheel boxes. I don't know if they are stronger or heavier than a wooden box would be but thats how it was built.. I know when I built travel trailers back in the 70's we used sheet metal for the wheel wells on those units also....

RE: Missoula, MT to Fruitland, Idaho

Gadget Guy, I heard about that accident on the news. I think 4 people were hurt pretty seriously, I understand no one had a helmet on. I guess 1st guy in line lost control and created a chain reaction. Glad you trip is going well. Have fun in the sunny south... A.

Sorry Overdrive, getting on to winter here too. No snow down in the valleys but lots of white on the mountains. Still some folks out hunting with campers but its slowing down..... but hey, spring is coming..... eventually.

RE: Class C Cab rebuild project

Yes very impressive. I had to rebuild some of my overhead also due to siderails allowing water in. However it was not that extensive and I was able to simply replace the damaged wood and tie it all back together using wood glue, screws and metal patch plates. As someone else mentioned mine was more of a framework with ply on top and bottom. You did a great job. I agree with you about not wanting to tackle it again as it does take on a life of its own... and the sore back and hands...... etc...
Again, great work and a great post showing us how you did it.

RE: What did you do to your Class C MH today???

Finished replacing the counter tops and putting in the new backsplash. Here is a photo of the old top off and a couple of the finished product. http://i481.photobucket.com/albums/rr175/aromriell/countertopoff2.jpghttp://i481.photobucket.com/albums/rr175/aromriell/finishcounter2.jpghttp://i481.photobucket.com/albums/rr175/aromriell/finishcounter1.jpg

RE: Missoula, MT to Fruitland, Idaho

Gadget Guy:, I am sitting in Fruitland Id as I write this. I drove 13 and 12 through Lolo last january and again in may. Like others have said, both are winding but I think 13 is a little narrower. It is a pretty good climb up out of the river by Stites but my brother used to drive semi's up it so your set up should be ok. As long as the road is not snow packed it should be fine. Once you hit Grangville on down 95 is good road, a long downhill grade on Whitebird and a couple of small climbs though mountains but good road. If you need anything when you get down this way feel free to PM me. Have a safe trip.

RE: I am new here, my RV has been around the block

My grandkids are the same, our daughter said once that is was nice of me to buy her kids their own playhouse. They crawl all over in it and pretend to drive places and go camping.

I loved that Johnny Cash song.... I would have loved to have seen that Caddy,
what was it he called it.... the psychobilly cadillac? something like that... I am sure your rig will look like it was all built in the same year Spec...

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Leeann: I wish we lived closer as I would gladly trade you shower surround work etc. for you and the BF expertise on the mechanicals. I am not that great of a carpenter but I am much better at that than the mechanical aspect. My son used to live in York Pa. so that would have been a workable deal, see him and fix your shower, but he moved to South Carolina so not so close to you now.
You can do it, really not any harder than putting down the laminate flooring and you guys did great on that. A.

Even if its slightly heavier, I think the added stability from having one piece of wood as opposed to two stapled together would be better. When I repaired my overhead damage I used larger wood where possible.

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

LeeAnn,
thats what I had was 70's era vinyl wallpaper, kind of a orange and brown stipped stuff. The panels Eyeteeth and I used are real easy to work with and cut. I just overlaid the old panels and sealed it all up with silicone caulk. Didn't take long and looks much, much better.
Eye: glad it worked out for you... its funny that your local homedepot didn't have the stuff as mine has a rack full all the time. I thought those places all had the same stuff... anyway glad it worked, your rig is looking real nice.

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

If the manifold is warped will a new gasket cure that or will I need a new manifold?
next question: my blinkers work fine unless the headlights are on then the blinkers don't work... brake lights do but not the blinks.... any ideas on where to start looking for that problem. I just discovered that one the other night.

RE: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Looking for some advise,
Has anyone had a problem with exhaust fumes in the cab. I know the seal on my doghouse needs replaced, which I will do when I put down new carpet but I have driven other vans with poor doghouse seals and never had such exhaust smell. It also seems to accumulate in the rear bath as well when on the road. I assume I must have an exhaust leak but don't hear any around the manifolds. I know the muffler needs replaced as the bottom is rusted out. Anyway, just looking for any advise from someone who has had and solved this problem. I haven't really tackled it seriously yet but its time to figure it out. thanks ... A.

Picked up the makings to replace the counter tops and backsplash at Homedepot. Now if I can find enough time to get them built and installed I will be happy.
